The secret of how to make great art: It's Not About Perfection, It's About Play!
Hey there, fellow doodlers and dreamers! Ever look at a blank canvas (or napkin, or sticky note – no judgment here!) and feel that familiar pang of "I can't draw?" Let me tell you a secret: neither can I... well, not perfectly. But that's the beauty of art, isn't it? It's not about flawless lines or museum-worthy masterpieces. It's about exploration, expression, and the pure joy of creating something with your own two hands.
Plus you taste changes all the time. and mine too. Sometimes I draw something that I think is amazing at the time, and when I see it again a few weeks later I am not so sure what I liked about it. It works the other way around too. Sometimes I really really dislike one of my drawings, I chuck it in a drawer never to see light again. But when I inevitably stumble across it days later, I often quite like it. What I am trying to say is this, It is really hard to judge your own work, especially when you have just made it. So why not leave the judgement for another time and during the creation process just have fun?
How to make great art? Play in a team!
That's why I'm SO excited to announce my brand new art courses! These aren't stuffy classrooms with rigid rules and critiques. We're talking about fun, relaxed sessions designed to help you ditch the perfectionist monster and embrace the messy, magnificent journey of making art.
Whether you're a complete beginner who wouldn't know a brush from a broomstick, or a seasoned doodler looking to reignite your creative spark, there's something for everyone. We'll dive into different mediums like watercolours, acrylics, and even mixed media! Get ready to experiment with techniques, unleash your inner child, and discover that art isn't about getting it right, it's about getting lost in the process.
Here's a taste of the creative adventures we'll embark on:
Watercolour week: Let's explore the magical world of watercolours! We'll learn basic washes, playful techniques, and how to let the watercolours do their thing (because sometimes, happy accidents are the best kind of art!). I just completed a watercolour week landscape challenge where I completed an entire sketchbook in one week, filled with colourful loose landscapes. The next challenge is just around teh corner so make sure to stay tuned!
colour Explosion!: I teach colour pencil drawing for a reason, I just love the vibrant and bold colours that you can create with these classic art materials. I also use gouache, acrylic paint markers and alcohol markers when I want to add colour to my work!
Mixed Media Mayhem: Feeling crafty? This course is for you! We'll combine different materials like markers, crayons, paint and pens to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces.

Remember, this isn't about becoming the next Picasso (although, hey, if that happens, let me know – I want your autograph!). This is about having fun, expressing yourself, and celebrating the joy of creating. So, grab your supplies, ditch the fear, and get ready to make some magic! See you in class! ✨
