If you are new to drawing and not sure where to start, you are in the right place.
New to drawing? You do not have to figure it out alone.Inside my online art community, you will find weekly lessons, gentle guidance, and a kind group of fellow beginners. Whether you want to start with art for relaxation or finally learn to draw, there is a place for you here.
Here’s What Happens in My Online Art Class for Beginners:
How I started my Community:
When I first started Makings and Musings, I taught all my classes in person. It was a joy to sit with others and make art together. Then, when the covid lockdown began, everything changed. I quickly moved my classes online and, for a few years, I was teaching several times a week—sometimes up to eight classes. It was wonderful but also exhausting. I realised I needed a new way to support people in learning to draw without burning out. That is when I began creating my first online course and moved towards a community format. Hosting a community is different from teaching one-off classes. It takes care, planning and a welcoming spirit. My aim is to make this community a safe and gentle space where anyone—especially those who are new to drawing—can feel encouraged, included and inspired.
Many people feel nervous when they start with art. They worry they are not good enough or that it is too late to begin. But drawing is a skill you can learn—just like handwriting or cooking. And it can be such a calming and joyful habit.
Let me show you what it is like inside my online art community.
A Gentle Way to Learn to Draw
The Makings and Musings community is not a formal art school. It is a relaxed and welcoming space where you can take your time, explore your creativity, and enjoy the process. There are no grades, no pressure, and no need to get things “right.”
New to Drawing
If you are new to drawing, I guide you step-by-step through each lesson. We begin with simple, clear instructions so you can build your skills and confidence gently. You do not need fancy materials—just a sketchbook, a pencil, and a little curiosity.
What makes this community special is that you are not learning alone. Alongside my weekly lessons, you will see what others are creating, read about their process, and feel inspired by their ideas. Everyone brings something different, and we all learn from one another. Whether you want to sketch in a notebook, draw from nature, experiment with colour, or simply start with art to feel more relaxed—there is a place for you here.
