About the Event
Hi my lovely creatives
In this six week course we will expore colour and specifically different colour palettes.
The course includes 6 live sessions over zoom. You will keep access to all recordings after.
We will look at, and answer these questions:
- How can you use colour to set a specific atmosphere?
- How can a limited colour palette help you by develloping your own art style?
- How do you find a colour pelette that works for you?
"Colour is very much like a bank account. If you dip into it too much soon you will have none“ – Andrew Loomis
- Using a limited colour palette forces you to think more about the colour you are using, without selecting colours at random.
- A limited colour palettes helps you bring simplicity to your work.
- It removes confusion, as you only use the colours that are within your colour gamut. If you’re using blue, white and red, you only have these three colours to choose from – making it simple.
Difficulty level:
Each class will come with a sketch template
we will do a warm up at the start of each class to try out what colours we will use
we will go through the painting/drawing process together.
Materials:
During this course I will be creating in various mediums and you can join in using the materials of your own choice.
This is not a specific watercolour technique or colour pencil technique class, instead we will be focusing on colour and composition and you will be able to draw and paint along with the materials that have your preference.
Paper:
I recommend using a sketchbook or paper that is suitable for a variety of mediums.
What colour palettes will we look at:
Each colour palette that we will look at will require different colours.
When you use paint you can mix the colours but you can also join in using markers, pencils, crayons or other art materials.
- Black and white - a black pen, marker, fineliner, ink or paint
- Pop art - Neon and bright colours
- Romanticism - Earth Tones
- Impressionism - Pastel colours
- Fauvism - Bold colours
- Contamporary Illustrators - We will look at various illustrators and choose a colour scheme that we each prefer.
7. Bonus:
Zorn Palette - yellow ochre, ivory black, vermillion and titanium white - this will be a video recording only. I will be painting a portrait using these specific colours and explain in detail what the Zorn Palette is.
I am looking forward to make art with you!
