COURSE Learn to paint 10 birds in gouache

Hi my lovely creative makers, 

In this course you will learn how to paint birds.

Painting in gouache is great for beginning artists and birds are colourful, vibrant and versitile and a perfect subject to brighten up our March! 

This course is for you if: 

• If you would like to make a start in gouache painting
• If you love birds and would like to learn how to illustrate them
• if you want to build a painting habit and create on a regular basis. 
• if you don't know where to start and you would like to paint as part of a creative community
• if you are looking to make March a creative, fun and artful month. 
• If you want to illustrate birds but don't know where to start. 

What to expect:

We will meet each other in 4 extra long live painting session on the 9th, 15th, 23 and 29th March from 6-8PM GMT where we paint a Bird together step by step in gouache. (alternating on wednesdays and thursdays). 

During the course we will paint 10 birds together. Six of these classes are pre recorded and available to waitch in your own time and four in live sessions that will also be added to the course as recordings. The course also includes introduction sessions and explainer video's on how to use gouache and what to expect.

What materials do you need for the course?

• a sketchbook or loose paper with at least 11 empty sheets, if you want to do some swatching and practicing you may need a few extra pages. I would recommend watercolour of mixed media paper of at least 190 GSM.
• HB sketch pencil, sharpener and eraser
• Gouache paint. I will use Winsor & Newton Designers Gouache. You can join in using any gouache brand, if you are looking for recommendation on paint feel free to contact me.  

The materials required for the live session are the same. 

In the course you will learn:

• How to sketch 10 birds
• How to analyse the proportions of each animal
• How to mix colours and layer gouache
• You will learn how to paint in a flat illustration style.
• we will paint together in one long live session where we will be painting a bird step by step
• letting go of perfectionism and enjoying the process instead.
• we will draw from reference pictures and look at a variety of european and tropical birds. 

This course is suitable for all level artists and you can expect to improve your sketching and painting skills by practicing regularly. 

The course will be for sale after March without the live session.
